Incredibly stunning and beautifully made, boho embroidered, appliqued and beaded elaborate rich peony pink stupendous jacket by designer Sandy Starkman, well known for her exquisite unusual materials, layering of different elements, bohemian designs and embroideries. If you're someone who likes to make a head-turning entrance, this piece is definitely for you! This one just blows me away with its fabulous level of breathtaking details and amount of painstaking construction---I've owned and handled a lot of Starkman jackets and this is hands down my personal favorite--have never seen another one of this particular type offered elsewhere, either. SO astonishingly beautiful and elegant, with very, very extensive and intricate embroidery and applique work, as well as glass beadwork, tiny sewn-on brass coin accents, lace insets and appliques, and metallic threads throughout. Very unusual and beautiful fabrics, with very fine net and lace layered over delicately striped brilliant rose fabric and then elaborately embroidered, appliqued and beaded on top of that, over all---I can't say enough about how much I admire the exquisite workmanship of this---it's truly "art to wear"! The jacket itself is intricate in pattern and configuration, with a semi-Western style which appears often in Starkman designs. Has pink silky lining and is in pristine condition. The appliques, beadwork, sequins, tiny brass coins, lace, and embroidery are super ornate and gorgeous, all over the front, sleeves and the back----unique! Impeccable condition, marked an M. Please view my other listings to see how incredibly beautiful this looks with the rose pink vintage Bila dress I also have listed (not included but shown in last photo)--they look like they were made for each other! (This would also be totally fabulous with a rose pink tiered Western skirt and boots....!)
IMPORTANT: PLEASE, please be sure to read ALL of the description especially the measurements and condition, and examine ALL the photos, BEFORE asking questions; and do be absolutely positive this piece will fit your requirements, as there are no refunds or returns. I'm a degreed and experienced textile scientist/antique garment restorer and seamstress, and I very, very carefully note any and all condition issues or repairs to every piece of antique/vintage clothing that I'm selling, so I can't stress enough that even if they're in pristine condition, remember they are all decades old and NOT new clothing, so if you desire modern perfection please don't purchase vintage! I don't do layaways or take offers, so please don't ask, thank you. Jewelry/accessories/props in photos are not included and not for sale.
I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings. There is NO SMOKING whatsoever in this establishment and never has been. Everything is very diligently inspected before it is shipped to you, carefully wrapped in new tissue, and I only ship in NEW USPS boxes, NOT flimsy bags or crammed into careless packaging (which seems to be widespread nowadays but I really hate to see when I'm the recipient!) I respect clothing and I ship it the way I would want it shipped to me.
Size tag marked an M, might work for a SM too; please check measurements.
Chest measures 40" on the OUTSIDE, closed. (Inside will be smaller by at least 1") I would suggest wearer definitely have no larger than a 38" bust. This has a one-button closure.
Waist: 38"
Sleeves are 24.5" from shoulder to cuff edge.
Length is 26" from shoulder to hem; Mannequin is approx. 5' 6" and a modern size 6/8, the jacket fits the mannequin nicely with a little room to spare so in my opinion a modern size 6/8, maybe 10 depending on how snug one wants the fit, would fit this best (but carefully check measurements to be sure!)
Condition: Pristine vintage condition, no rips, spots, stains or other damages, clean, all beadwork intact, has a Sandy Starkman tag. Please be sure to view the other gorgeous Sandy Starkman jackets I will be listing as well as the Bila dress that matches this exactly!
Please make sure this will suit you as to measurements and style before you purchase; I don't do alterations or accept returns.....Also, please be sure to read my shop policies/shipping info in full before you purchase (click on "policies" on my main shop page).
