FAB Vintage 1990s Designer Sandy Starkman - Aquamarine Blue and Ecru "Under the Sea" Embroidered Beaded Silk Bohemian Jacket - Art to Wear

$49.00

Another stunning and beautifully made, boho embroidered silk art-to-wear jacket by designer Sandy Starkman, well known for her exquisite unusual materials, layering of different elements, bohemian designs and embroideries. So beautiful and elegant, with extensive and intricate embroidery in metallic silver, sequins and beadwork on a most unusual and exceptional pure silk organza fabric that looks just like undersea plant life; gorgeous shimmering shades of deep aquamarine and subtle golden-ecru in a wave pattern, with side insets and collar of solid deep aquamarine embroidered in chenille thread--VERY unusual and exquisite fabrics, even the shimmery net lining is fantastic and looks like deepwater coral/plants! Embroidered on front, back, collar and sleeves with silvery beaded/sequined flowers. Very sheer, 100% silk organza so it's lightweight and perfect for summer. The jacket itself is intricate in pattern and configuration, with a type of princess-seamed design that is rather similar in style/pattern to certain "Western" style jackets, which appears often in Starkman designs. This would be so fabulous over a floaty slipdress or silk tank top... The embroidery is ornate and gorgeous, all over the front, sleeve ends and the back, touched with delicate beads and iridescent sequins----so unique. Lovely condition, marked an M. Be sure to check out the fantastic vintage 1928 Jewelry Co. necklace set shown here with the jacket, offered in my other listings!

IMPORTANT: PLEASE, please be sure to read ALL of the description especially the measurements and condition, and examine ALL the photos, BEFORE asking questions; and do be absolutely positive this piece will fit your requirements, as there are no refunds or returns. I'm a degreed and experienced textile scientist/antique garment restorer and seamstress, and I very, very carefully note any and all condition issues or repairs to every piece of antique/vintage clothing that I'm selling, so I can't stress enough that even if they're in pristine condition, remember they are all decades old and NOT new clothing, so if you desire modern perfection please don't purchase vintage! I don't do layaways or take offers, so please don't ask, thank you.

I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings. This is a NON SMOKING environment and always has been--I do not sell anything that has any kind of odor, nor do I ship clothing stuffed into shipping bags; I use new USPS boxes ONLY and carefully fold/wrap everything in new tissue paper.

Marked an M, would work for a SM too; please check measurements!
Chest measures 40" on the OUTSIDE, closed. (Inside will be smaller by at least 1") I would suggest wearer have no larger than a 36-38" bust.
Sleeves are 24-25" from shoulder to cuff edge.
Length is 22.5" from shoulder to hem; Mannequin is approx. 5' 6" and a modern size 6/8, the jacket fits the mannequin nicely with a little room to spare so in my opinion a modern 8/10 depending on how snug one wants the fit, would fit this best (but carefully check measurements to be sure!) Front has one loop and button closure.
Lined with fantastic iridescent aqua "underwater net" fabric---it's almost too awesome to be hidden!

Condition: Excellent vintage condition, no rips, spots, stains or other damages, has a Sandy Starkman tag. I'd recommend a light dry cleaning, not because there is any soiling (there isn't) but just to freshen it up as it's been hanging in a closet for years. Please be sure to view the other gorgeous Sandy Starkman jackets I will be listing!
Please make sure this will suit you as to measurements and style before you purchase; I don't do alterations or accept returns.....Also, please be sure to read my shop policies/shipping info in full before you purchase (click on "policies" on my main shop page).
