April Cornell Vintage - Cool Aquamarine Woven Rayon -1940s Inspired Tiered Ruffle Dress - Full Skirt - Cottagecore - Adjustable M to XL

Another lovely, cool April Cornell dress with a beautiful print of pink and yellow flowers on pale aquamarine, very very soft woven rayon, with a classic three-tiered, extra full skirt style. Back smocking and button-on removable back ties to adjust the fit perfectly. I found pictures of this dress from an old April Cornell catalog--see last two photos--it's called the "Virginia Hostess Dress". April's designs are so comfortable, have really held their value over the years, are timeless in style and always wear well, which is why collectors just love her dresses! Beautifully made with lovely details such as aquamarine cotton lace trim on the neckline and raised waist, stretchy back smocking for a perfect fit, and super soft rayon fabric, has inset side pockets plus even has an extra button included on the inside side seam! Such a beautiful and wearable vintage style, with flattering, twirl-worthy triple-tiered skirt that looks so good on everyone....this dress will fit quite a range of sizes just by tying the back ties looser or tighter--it's really versatile.

I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings. There is NO SMOKING whatsoever in this establishment and never has been. Everything is very diligently inspected before it is shipped to you, carefully wrapped in new tissue, and I only ship in NEW USPS boxes, NOT flimsy bags or crammed into careless packaging (which seems to be widespread nowadays but I really hate to see when I'm the recipient!) I respect clothing and I ship it the way I would want it shipped to me.

No size tag, but though this measures at an XL, please go by the measurements below as even an M could wear this simply by tying the back ties--- April Cornell dresses are often differently sized depending on the style. Care tag on inner skirt seam reads 100% rayon with 100% cotton pockets.

Bust max: dress measures 44" pit to pit unstretched , with additional 1 to 2 inches in stretch from the back smocking. Raised waist measures 40" unstretched with same additional stretch from the smocking, can be made smaller by tying the detachable back ties. Wearer's measurements should be at least 1"-2" smaller than these for best fit; this is not meant to be a tight fitting garment.
Length is approx 46" from shoulder to hem while on the hanger; the dress fits and drapes SO beautifully on the body as you can see. Has nice side pockets and a gorgeous, very full tiered skirt!
Mannequin is a modern size 6/8 (36-26-36) and the dress has a little too much room to spare. I'd say best for a 10-16 size range, but double check measurements to be sure; there are no returns or exchanges on clothing.

Condition: This dress is in wonderful gently worn condition, I can find no flaws on this dress; it is freshly cleaned and has no stains, rips, holes or damages, just gorgeous! Has the designer's own April Cornell tag; also has an extra button provided in the inner side seam next to the care tag.
