FAB Vintage 1990s Designer NWOT Sandy Starkman - 2 PC White and Pale Blue Silk Lavishly Embroidered Bohemian Jacket w/ Matching Bonus Skirt

Another absolutely stunning and beautifully made, boho embroidered silk jacket by designer Sandy Starkman, well known for her exquisite unusual materials, layering of different elements, bohemian designs and embroideries. I purchased the skirt at a completely different time than the jacket and then noticed how fantastically well they match (like they were positively made for each other) so I'm throwing it in as a bonus for this listing! The Spanish-style silk jacket is exquisitely beautiful and elegant, with VERY extensive and intricate embroidery in blue and beige on soft, shimmery taffeta-type white pure silk--the superb embroidery is all over the front, down the sleeves and all the edges plus a medallion on the back. No front fastenings. I do not believe this was ever worn as it's like new and has no signs of wear, however it's been in a closet for many years so I'd suggest a professional dry cleaning just to freshen it up. The bonus skirt that I've paired with it is just astonishing in how closely it matches the jacket in colors and design motifs---it's a drawstring, very full, gathered made-in-India rayon gauze skirt with extensive decoration of blue and gold plus shimmering silver sequins. Fabulous set!

I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings. This is a NON SMOKING environment and always has been--I do not sell anything that has any kind of odor, nor do I ship clothing stuffed into shipping bags; I use new USPS boxes ONLY and carefully fold/wrap everything in new tissue paper.

Jacket is marked a size M, skirt is marked "free size" because of the drawstring waist, please check measurements below!
Jacket bust measures 39" on the OUTSIDE. (Inside will be smaller by at least 1") Though this has no fasteners and is meant to be worn open, I would suggest wearer have no larger than a 36-37" bust.
Waist: 38"--this has a slight flare below the waist that shapes it beautifully to the body, like a Spanish style jacket.
Sleeves are 24" from shoulder to cuff edge.
Length is 19.5" from shoulder to hem; Mannequin is approx. 5' 6" and a modern size 6/8, the jacket fits the mannequin nicely with a little room to spare so in my opinion a modern size 6/8, maybe 10 depending on how snug one wants the fit, would fit this best (but carefully check measurements to be sure!)
The skirt is a "free size" at the waist and the drawstring can adjust it to a very wide range of sizes from small to extra large. Length is 37".

Jacket condition: Beautiful like new vintage condition, no damages, no evidence of any wear, has the designer's own Sandy Starkman tag. I would suggest a professional dry cleaning just to freshen it, since this is 100% silk.
I have freshly cleaned the skirt, it's not a perfect garment as the hem is slightly uneven in one small area and there may or may not be some other tiny issue I overlooked, but it presents beautifully and since it matches so well I'm including it as a free bonus!
