A fantastic dress that looks SO 1910's to 1920's---but was made in the 1990's and is super wearable and comfortable. Amazing dress that has a real "Titanic" era to early 1920's vibe......if you wore a narrow full length black silk maxi skirt under this it would look totally Edwardian. (Please see last two photos for styling ideas) Wonderful 100% silk super-floaty chiffon in a vintage-inspired print and a super comfortable style with an Empire waist and loose dolman-style sleeves. I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings. This is a NON SMOKING environment and always has been--I do not sell anything that has any kind of odor, nor do I ship clothing stuffed into shipping bags; I use new USPS boxes ONLY and carefully fold/wrap everything in new tissue paper.

The bodice is very loose fitting and accommodating and this has dolman style sleeves. There is a full length ivory lightweight knit slip that is attached inside, and a side zipper for ease in putting the dress on. There are back ties of sheer black chiffon to adjust the fit more tightly if needed. The hem features a wide border of black silk chiffon plus delicate black lace trim; there is more black lace trim on the neckline, sleeves and Empire waistband. Neckline and sleeve edges are beautifully edged with contrast silk chiffon trim as well.

Though marked a vintage 16, this is a bit smaller than current modern size 16 so please note measurements below.

Measurements of this wonderful dress are as follows:
Bust maximum measurement is approx 41", best for a 38/39" bust and under.
Raised waist: 38" (can be made to fit tighter by using the back ties)
Hip: free, full gathered skirt
Skirt length from raised waist is approx. 34", keep in mind this may fall shorter on longer depending on the size of one's hips
Length is 50" from shoulder to hem; this fits and drapes SO beautifully on the body for a multitude of sizes, as you can see. Mannequin is a modern size 6/8 and it fits rather loosely on that. I believe this could fit a size 14 and under, possibly a smaller busted 16 (but check measurements to be sure!)

Condition: Excellent, no stains, spots or rips/holes, clean, no staining or underarm discoloration, I cannot find any issues. Beautiful and so antique looking! Labels intact, "Jonathan Martin, size 16" and the fabric content.
